A Bat Mitzvah for teenage girls
Last Sunday, I had the pleasure of working in Paris for an event that was both symbolic and original: the Bat Mitzvah of a young girl celebrating her 13th birthday surrounded by her friends.
Her mother wanted to mark this important moment with a different idea—an activity that was fun, educational, and perfectly suited to the age of the teenagers. She came up with an idea that few parents have thought of so far: bringing a professional makeup artist into the home for a makeup lesson.
A first-time experience that made a big impression, both on the young girl and her friends… and on their mothers too!
A makeup class designed especially for teenagers
For this Bat Mitzvah, I traveled directly to the family’s home, with everything needed. There was already some makeup on site, and of course I also brought my own professional kit, carefully selected to suit young skin.
The goal of this class was not to transform them, but rather to teach them the basics of makeup, while respecting their age, personality, and facial features.
We worked step by step:
• Skin preparation,
• Light, natural complexion,
• Gentle correction,
• Simple, bright eye makeup,
• A touch of blush and gloss.
Each participant received a recap sheet where she could write down all the steps, tips, and advice shared during the workshop. A real added value so they could recreate the makeup at home independently.
A demonstration, hands-on practice, and lots of kindness
As with all my makeup workshops, I started with a demonstration on one of the girls. While I explained each gesture, the others watched attentively.
Then, each girl recreated the steps on herself, at her own pace. I moved around to guide them, correct them, and encourage them—always in a warm and joyful atmosphere.
This format allows teenagers to build confidence, feel comfortable asking questions, and understand that makeup is above all a pleasure and a tool for feeling good about themselves.
Memories in pictures: before, during, and after
Throughout the session, we took photos before, during, and after the makeup class.
At the end of the workshop, I brought out a few girly accessories: fun glasses, glitter headbands, little sparkling details… Everything needed to create a real photoshoot with friends, filled with laughter and good vibes.
These moments are often the girls’ favorites: they leave with memories, photos, and above all an experience they will never forget.
